So are you a glass half full kinda person? Or a glass half empty? Does it even matter?
I have always been a glass half full person, don’t get me wrong stuff still goes bad some days, but I find that it makes those days easier to deal with. If you aren’t focused on the negative, it is easier to see the positives… at least in my experience… but what about everyone else? Am I just being delusional or can we actually create our own reality with our thoughts?
The Law of Attraction, or “Manifesting” is a total buzz word right now… but is there any substance behind it? The Law of Attraction states that whatever can be imagined and held in the mind’s eye is achievable if you take action on a plan to get to where you want to be. According to the history books, “The Law of Attraction” concept was first recorded as being introduced to mankind by Buddha, it was accompanied by the sister concept of Karma…..what you give you get back…. However there are many civilizations in our past that have followed similar concepts. The bible states ‘As a man thinketh in his heart so is he’. The bible also states ‘One reaps what one sows’ These statements are very closely aligned to the principles of The Law of Attraction. The concept of your thoughts creating your reality has been around for a long time. But does it actually work?
In 1994 in Japan, Masaru Emoto was observing frozen water under a microscope and discovered he could see Ice Crystals (like snow flakes formed in the ice). From here he and his team started to see if the could influence the crystals formed by outside stimuli like music, pictures or words. They found that water that had been ‘blessed’ with positive words, pictures or music produced beautiful crystals and water exposed to negative stimuli produced deformed crystals. So when you take into account that our bodies are made up of roughly 80% water, having water that has been negatively influenced, may very well have some negative effects.
So does Positive Thinking have anything to it? , or is it a bunch of hogwash that distracts you as the world falls to pieces? Personally I cant answer that for anyone else. But I do know that I seem to feel better, thus react better when I am focusing on the positive rather than the negative…
By simply acknowledging, then releasing any negative thoughts I have and consciously reminding myself of all the wonderful things that have happened in my life and the blessings I have (food, shelter, a loving family, my health, a country with no war, famine etc) I find that I can have positive thoughts in my mind most of the time, and that helps to ensure that any knocks are easier for me to bounce back from….sure there are times when things are tough and don’t go my way. But these times are fleeting and there are always new opportunities around the corner… I think a positive attitude makes those opportunities easier to recognize and take a hold of…
Do you subscribe to the ideal of a positive attitude makes for a happy life, or are all us crazies just living in a dream world? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
